Livingston Temple Softball League 06/15/14
Sharey Tefilo Israel (9-0) remained undefeated with a 24-9 win
over Temple Sinai. Jason Grebin had a first
inning homerun for TSTI but Temple Sinai
still took an early 4-1 lead. Over the next 3 innings TSTI's balanced
attack gave them a big lead while some great defensive plays (David Kramer SS,
Larry Feigenbaum OF, Steve Weisman OF) held Temple Sinai at bay for the
eventual 6 inning win. B'nai Jeshurun (8-2) remained 2 games back in the loss
column with a 22-5 win over B'nai Abraham. Also 2 games back is AABJD (7-2)
after a 16-4 win over B'nai Shalom. The winners used a combination of bloopers
and dunkers into short center for the victory which was paced by Ariel Fournier
and Josh Kaplan with 3 RBI's each. Pine Brook edged Temple Emanu-El 6-5 in the
tightest A division game of the day.
In the 2nd week of the season Beth Shalom defeated B'nai Brith to
give them an 0-2 start but they bounced back with 7 consecutive wins. The
rematch was this week and B'nai Brith's (7-3) 7 game winning streak came to an
end as Beth Shalom held on for another win (15-13) in a back and forth battle. Tied
at 2 after 2 innings Beth Shalom batted around for 7 third inning runs
highlighted by Jared Berkey's 3 run homer (3 hits, 5 RBI's on the day). But
B'nai Brith came back with 3 in the 3rd and 5 in the 4th to take a 10-9 lead.
Beth Shalom was not finished and they batted around again in the 5th for 6 runs
while B'nai Brith added 3 in the bottom of the inning making it 15-13. Over the
final 2 innings neither team scored. In the loss, Jason Crimmons had 2 home
runs and the first one was a fly ball way over the left field wall at Okner. For
3 innings Temple Sholom of West Essex and Chabad were pretty much deadlocked.
In the 4th inning TSWE (8-2) erupted for 7 runs and held Chabad scoreless for 3
more innings for a 14-8 win and a share of 1st place in the B division. Suburban
Torah bounced back from 2 losses last week with an impressive 11-4 win over 1st
place Agudath Israel (8-2). B'nai Or defeated Ner Tamid 11-10 with a walk off
7th inning double by Craig Rosen (3 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBI's).The game saw 4
lead changes and was tied 10-10 going into the bottom of the 7th after Ner
Tamid stranded 3 runners in the top of the inning. 8 of the 11 runs scored by
B'nai Or crossed the plate with 2 outs. Paul Delson had 2hits and 2 RBI's while
Adam Lazer had 3 hits for the winners. Defensively B'nai Or had 2 double plays
and a few diving stops. Congratulations to Ohr Torah winning their first game
of the season 9-6 over B'nai Israel.
Only 4 weeks to go for the regular season. The rosters are posted
