Livingston Temple Softball League 05/31/15
For the 1st time
in a long time Sharey Tefilo Israel was losing a game going into the 5th
inning. Trailing 6-3 to Temple Sholom of West Essex a few long balls from David
Pressel and Eric Rothfeld led to a 7 run top of the 5th for TSTI as
they outscored their opponents 13-2 in the final 3 frames. The 19-8 win lifted
their A division leading record to 9-0. Suburban
Torah’s 24-9 victory over B’nai Jeshurun also gave them the 2nd most
runs scored in the A division. AABJD defeated Pinebrook 16-7. For the winners,
Jeff Falkenstein had a homerun, Ariel Fournier had 3 RBI’s and Doni Israeli had
2 RBI’s. Also B’nai Shalom edged Temple Sinai 5-4.
2nd place in the
A division is 2.5 games back while in the B division 6th place is
only 2 games back. There is a 3 way tie for 1st at 7-2 after Chabad
and B’nai Brith both lost this week. B’nai Or (7-2) got by Temple Emanu-El
15-11 for a share of 1st place with a balanced attack. 10 players
scored at least once while Adam Forman (4-4, 3 runs, 3 RBI’s) and Todd Gutkin
(3 hits, 2 runs) led the way. Going into the top of the 7th B’nai Or
was ahead 15-6 but the E-Men scored 5 runs and had the bases loaded with the
tying run at the plate before they made the final out. In a 10-10 tie through 4
innings in a back and forth game, B’nai Brith (7-2) scored 5 in the bottom of
the 5th for a 15-10 lead. But B’nai Israel’s pitcher, David Emma,
and the defense held B’nai Brith scoreless for the last 2 innings. In the top
of the 7th Adam Katzman connected for a grand slam which led to the
18-15 victory for B’nai Israel. Agudath Israel (5-4) was ahead 10-6 after 2
innings and kept the lead the whole way as they defeated Chabad (7-2) by a
score of 20-16. For the winners, Grge
Adelsberg was 3-5 with 2 HR’s, Steve Rosen was 4-4 and David Lurie 5-5. All 11
players on CAI scored at least 1 run. Notching their 1st win was Ner
Tamid in a 1 run game over AABJD/Ohr Torah. In the win, Mike Miller had a 2 run
HR, 3 run triple and a nice running catch in center field. It still was not
easy for Ner Tamid who had a 9-8 lead into the bottom of the 7th but
AABJD went down in order to give NT the victory. Finally B’nai Abraham got the
best of Beth Shalom 16-9.
