Livingston Temple Softball League 06/04/17
In a high scoring game, Chabad (6-2) edged Temple Sharey Tefilo Israel by five runs. Chabad took a 5 -0 lead early and with a 6 run 6th inning went on to a 23-18 victory. For the winners, Micha Mandel went 3/4 plus a walk and scored 4 times while Dave Levine's 3 run homer put Chabad in the driver's seat in the big 6th. Eric Latzman was 3/4 with a huge 2 RBI double in the 3rd and David Lysek was 4/5 with 2 doubles. B'nai Jeshurun (6-2) remained tied for 1st with Chabad after winning a close one against Temple Sinai 16-14. The TBJ offense was paced by Mike Hansel who was 4-4 with two home runs and David Nathan who hit his own 4 bagger into the parking lot at Riker Hill. Temple Sinai had the tying run at bat in the seventh inning before Rich Blann was able to initiate a 6-4-3 double play to end the game. B'nai Brith won their 4th in a row holding on for a 13-9 win over Agudath Israel after taking a 13-0 lead. AI scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make things close, but were only able to plate one run in the 7th allowing BB to take the win. Don Newell led BB going 4-4, and Wayne Neumann fielded his position well while pitching the B's to victory.
In the B
division, first place Suburban Torah (6-1) won their league leading 6th in a
row defeating B'nai Abraham 21-12. 2nd place B'nai Or (5-2) had their hands
full with AABJD/Ohr Torah in a game that saw 5 early lead changes. But B'nai Or
scored 7 times in the 5th to take a 16-8 lead and held on for the 17-13 win. Eric
Axler had a double and homer scoring 4 times. Keith Barbarosh had 3 hits
including a double and a triple off the fence at Okner with 5 RBI's. Neill
Hamilton had two timely two out hits for 3 RBI's. Jordan Byk came back to
pitch in relief with a great effort retiring 8 of the last 9 batters. DH this
Sunday starting at 9 with the 6/11 game followed by the 5/14 makeup.
