Livingston Temple Softball League 05/29/16
In the A division, Temple
Sharey Tefilo Israel won both halves of their DH to remain undefeated at 5-0 in
our abbreviated season. But they also found themselves in unfamiliar territory down
8-3 to Temple Sholom after 4 innings. Then the bats woke up and they scored 9
in the 5th and 8 in the 6th on the way to a 20-11
victory. Jason Grebin had 3 homeruns in the win for TSTI. Cary Bayer, Mark
Licht, Ken Gorman, David Kramer, and Dave Pressel had 3 hits each for the
winners. They also defeated Suburban Torah 18-10. In that game, Jeff Becker,
Steve Weissman, Rob Lazurus and Mike Somekh had 3 hits each. Also, Jared Bayer
got his first 2 hits in Temple League play. AABJD won their game against
Suburban 16-5 but lost a tight one to Temple Sinai 8-7. Jeff Falkenstein had a
3 run triple in the win while Rafi Abramowitz and Jay Gertleman both homered in
the 1st and 2nd game. Chabad defeated Temple Sinai 16-9
in their 1st game and lost the 2nd to Pine Brook 14-12.
Great grandfather Bernie Neustadt scored in both games for Chabad and had a
single and 2 walks. In their win, Joe Bottinger was 4-4 and scored 4 runs, Max
Burack was 3-3 and scored twice, Rabbi Mendy had a bases loaded hit to drive in
2 and Jeff Steil homered. Also, Pine Brook defeated B’nai Brith 25-14.
There are no undefeated
teams left in the B division with Agudath Israel and Beth Shalom both splitting
on the day. Agudath’s 1st game was a 24-7 win over Temple Emanu-El
with homers from Greg Adelsberg and Simeon Gutman. Greg also homered in their 2nd
game but that was a 6-4 loss to Beth Shalom (Steve Siegal 3-3, 2 RBI’s). Beth
Shalom was leading their 1st game 5-3 through 5 innings but B’nai Or
scored 7 runs in the last 2 innings to take the game 10-7. In the win, Adam
Forman (3-3, BB, 2 runs), Jason Cohen (Triple, 3 RBI’s), Eric Axler (2 hits, 2
runs). B’nai Or’s 2nd game went 8 innings with B’nai Israel. Bill
Schlosser’s great defensive play in right field helped B’nai Or maintain the
lead 17-13 after 5 innings. B’nai Israel scored 3 in the home 6th
but left the bases loaded with 2 outs. Then B’nai Israel tied it with a solo
homerun in the 7th. But B’nai Or’s bat’s came back to life and they
scored 5 in the 8th for the 22-17 win. For the winners, Adam Forman
was 4-4 with a homer, 4 runs and 4 RBI’s. Eric Axler had 3 hits, a homer, 3
runs and 5 RBI’s. Jason Cohen, Adam Lazer, Keith Barbarosh and Bill Schlosser
