Week 6 Writeup 5/18/14

Livingston Temple Softball League 05/18/14

Sharey Tefilo Israel (5-0) remained undefeated on top of the A division with an 18-6 win over Temple Emanu-El. The E-Men scored 4 early to take the lead but 8 runs in the bottom of the 3rd put TSTI up for good. B'nai Jeshurun (5-1) exploded for a 31-5 win over B'nai Shalom for their 5th win in a row tying TSTI for the longest win streak in the A division this season. TBJ lost their first game by 1 run and have now scored 61 more runs than they have given up which is 2nd only to Sharey Tefilo Israel (+62). AABJD got the best of Pine Brook by a 13-5 margin. In the win Kenny Falkenstein hit a 3 run homer, Jay Gertleman had 2 triples and Doug Eisenberg had a 2 run triple. B'nai Abraham forfeited to Temple Sinai for the first no contest of the year.

Agudath Israel (6-0) kept their league longest winning streak alive by beating Chabad 12-9. The game was tied early at 6 but a 5 run 4th put CAI up for the duration. Hitting leaders were Mark Davis 2 for 2, double, walk, 3 RBI's and Charlie Kessler 2 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBI's. In their 6 wins, CAI has a 1 run win, two 2 run wins and one 3 run win. Temple Sholom of West Essex (5-1) maintained their hold on 2nd in the B division with a hard fought 13-10 win over Ner Tamid. Each team had only 9 players and Ner Tamid broke a 9-9 tie with a Josh Doros homerun in the bottom of the 6th. With 2 batters out in the top of the 7th and nobody on, Temple Sholom rallied for 4 runs and held Ner Tamid scoreless for the win. In the victory, Mark Wolf was 4-4 with a walk and Jeff Shapiro was 4-5, with Jeff Goldberger knocking in the tying and winning runs.  B'nai Brith(4-2) won their 4th in a row with a 17-2 victory over B'nai Israel. After losing their first 2 games BB has now won the last 4 by an average of 14 runs per game. For the winners Steve Miller had a triple and a homerun and Jared Resnick had 2 homers. Suburban Torah (4-2) batted around in two separate 8 run innings which was enough to get by Beth Shalom 17-11. In the loss, Doug Netburn had a 3 run homer and a double with 5 RBI's on the day. B'nai Or kept the hits coming in a 21-3 win over AABJD/Ohr Torah. Jason Cohen, Keith Barbarosh, Scott Charles and Adam Forman each homered. Keith, Scott and Adam each had 4 RBI's. 10 players scored and 9 players had RBI's.
